Delayed in Sardinia

I am sure all of the people who are following us on flyforthecure.org are wondering why we are not in Crete, Greece.

Around 9:30 this morning, getting ready to depart, we were on a taxiway and the right main tire blew out. Fortunately, we were not on the runway departing. The only commercial airport in Sardinia is where we are and they have no provisions for general aviation maintenance. It took 15 people 2 hrs. to move our airplane 100 feet to a secure area off the taxiway.

We determined what parts were damaged and were able to contact my friend Marty Balk who is now ordering all the necessary parts. We have no idea when the parts will arrive and how long customs will keep them before releasing them to us. We are very thankful that we are in Sardinia and enjoying Italian hospitality.

Just because of our delay, please do not forget to continue supporting the reason for our journey and please continue donating to Alzheimer’s disease.

  1. There are worst ways to spend your days than waiting for plane parts in Italy! Hi and safe travels from the Kingsley Family.
